DEMF 2009: Hotel Recommendations

Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center
E Jefferson And Brush, Detroit, MI, 48243

My top pick, this is where most of the artists stay. Walking distance, really like 2 city blocks away. It also has a liquor and convenience store inside. Sorry no microwave.

Detroit Riverside Hotel
2 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI, 48226

Just at close as the "Ren Cen", and just as nice. I've stayed here and I highly recommend this hotel, just don’t pick a room near the elevators and the ice machine and you'll be fine. No microwave.

Atheneum Suite Hotel
1000 Brush Avenue, Detroit, MI, 48226

Though it’s a bit farther off from Hart plaza its still pretty close to the action, and you'll feel like your sleeping with the Greek gods. Beautiful.

Complimentary wireless Internet access. Cable/satellite TV with pay movies. MP3 docking station. Clock radio. Coffee/tea maker. Minibar. Phone with voice mail. Bathroom with marble soaking tub. Hair dryer. Iron/ironing board. In-room safe. Complimentary newspaper. No microwave.

Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Downtown
351 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, MI, 48226
866-539-0036

Close to Hart cheap and a nice spot. Microwave in room.

Doubletree Guest Suites Fort Shelby/Detroit Downtown
525 West Lafayette Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226

This hotel is a great options for large groups and couples, the 2 room suite has, has a room with 2 queen beds and a living room area with a sofa bed, can accommodate up six people in 1 room (2 per bed). It's setup like a small apartment. No microwave.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites - Detroit Downtown
1020 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI, 48226

Another great option, this hotel is a steel. Microwave in some rooms, also in the lobby.

TIPS:
-Try to stay South of Fisher highway and between John C lodge highway & Chrysler highway.
- Search by zip codes: 48226 and 48243.

WARNING - Do not book a hotel in:
-Windsor looks close enough on the map, but you do not want to be crossing the borders everyday.
-Dearborn
-Near the Airport
-The Corktown inn, it's so far and so icky.

  2. I was wondering would you recommend the Westin Cadillac Detroit? They are offering a dicounted rate via Wantickets and movement? Too far from the action?
