NEW Stage for Sonar 2010

Sónar unveils a new stage of “Finisterrae”

“Fishing” is the title of the new stage of “Finisterrae”, the film that is the image of Sónar 2010. In this new episode the protagonists will be seen enveloped in a strange situation while trying to find themselves something to eat before being able to go on with their journey.

In the coming weeks, Sónar will continue to unveil new chapters in the particular journey of these two ghosts.

Press here to watch the new stage "Fishing".

“Finisterrae” isn't a conventional film. The idea of the film in itself is unheard of, with a philosophy that starts off in the first place from the filming and the capture of images to elaborating the script and adding the dialogue later. This process has allowed the classic structure of a 'road movie' to be experimented and has been developed with the freedom of not having to give itself up to a tight script.

The rest is enigmatic and singular cinema, impregnated with a very particular atmosphere, full of unusually beautiful imagery and a sense of humour both ironic and surreal.

Synopsis

“Finisterrae” tells the story of two ghosts who, tired of wandering through limbo, decide to take the Way of Saint James, to the end of the world (Finisterra) so that once there, they may begin a fleeting, earthly journey through the land of the living.

An introspective journey through uninhabited lands in which they are to find themselves with strange beings, wild animals and characters never before heard of. They must confront unexpected situations, battle with their own fears and struggle with the obstacles of their own phantasmagoric condition.

Rumor Mill: Ricardo Villalobos at DEMF!?

Ok so here's a tidbit, A little birdie told me that Ricardo Villalobos will be playing at DEMF. At the festival itself, not an outside party. He said the contract is signed.

This is completely unsubstantiated 3rd party info, but my rumors have been shown to be proven true in the past. Take it with a grain of salt there have been whispers of him comming to the USA since Obama became president.

We'll just have to wait and see, but the birdie is a somewhat reliable source.

Preview of Plastikman for DEMF

Plastikman returns, less than a week after his debut at Time Warp the footage is all over the internet. I truly hope he can deliver the same experience in the good old USA!

He's also released an iPhone App SYNK, for audience interactivity. It's described as, "The Plastikman SYNK is the official companion app to the 2010 Plastikman Live world-wide tour. The App is a component of the immersive environment that the show hopes to create using various converging technologies".

Richie is big on technology and creating a unique experience, which is always something to look forward to. The app seems like a more practical answer to The CUBE?

Let's take a look, at the video evidence, It's pretty fucking sick!

Rehersal Video

This is probably the best video out there i did some leg work, it's in HD. Drool.

LOVE FEST LOVEvolution 2010 Dates

A message for the Love headquarters:

Hey Lovers,

Spring is in the air and the annual Winter Music Conference in Miami is this week so we thought it was a good time to drop in and say hello.

Hope you're enjoying the sunshine! We're already well into planning for our 7th annual excursion into Love, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd. Stay tuned as we'll soon be updating our website, and you'll start to hear about new plans for improving the day and the week, new float applications, and expanded opportunities for participation.

We're pleased to let you know that based on the success of last year's seminal event, we've been able to make donations of close to $100,000 to various community groups and non-profits such as Next Aid, Access/ Women's Health Rights Coalition, Friends of the SF Library, AIDS Emergency Fund/Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, Cloud Factory Collective for the Arts, Center for Sex & Culture, Beat University AIDS Housing Alliance, Bay Positives, and other volunteer groups that helped staff the event. This is a great use of our scene and community to do good in the world, and this is what we're about! We look forward to building on this work to channel our music into helping others.
