Tikki Boat Series! 3 Ridiculous Events

What would Winter Music Conference be without a ridiculous listed Tikki boat party to attend? This year, listed Productions is excited to announce three Tikki Boat parties which will run Thursday, March 26th and Friday, March 27th. from sunrise to sunset. Going on its third year, listed will be outfitting the boat with a state-of-an-art Funktion One sound system powered by Sound Investment. With capacity capped at 150 people, we suggest you don’t miss the boat on your chance for hijinks on the high seas!

To kick off the series, listed & Resonant Vibes, will be teaming up to deliver the highly anticipated a sunset adventure with Captain Lee Burridge for his main showcase during Conference at “The Leeeeky Tikki” on Thursday, March 26th. Recently voted the #10 DJ in the World by Resident Advisor, this will be Lee's only headlining performance in Miami, setting the stage for a wobbly maiden voyage. The boat will set sail from 3pm – 8pm with listed resident Mike Khoury performing the honorable opening duties.

The series continues at sunrise on Friday, March 27th when listed joins forces with Resident Advisor to offer a unique experience for the second consecutive year to give us "The Freaky Tikki". Not only is Pokerflat’s label head Steve Bug back for his second trip, but Anja Schneider, Mobilee Records’ front-woman, will also be on board, making this one of the most high-profile parties of WMC 2009. The party will set sail from 5:30am – 11:30am with listed resident Dory handling the warm up.

Finally, one of the most talked about events over the past two conferences is back to anchor the Tikki Boat Party Series on Friday, March 27th: “Twilight on the Tikki”. Sailing on the successes of their recent Balance CD release and SexonSubstance label, S.O.S has grown into one of the hottest tickets during the conference. This ship launches at 4pm, returning to shore at 9pm, with listed resident Naveen G setting the tone for this sunset affair.

My Top 3 Festival Survival Tips

1. Get there early to avoid lines.

2. Bring a blanket. It can some time be a bit of a pain in the ass to carry around, but if you bring a bag you'll be fine. At a festival of the scale of ultra the blanket will serve many a purpose. Just lay it down and it instantly becomes the meeting point and resting spot. At some point you will probably get lost, its nice to have a a spot to go back to. The blanket is also a social tool. It's great for making new friends that just want a place to sit other than the dirty floor. Sometimes those new found friend will carry party favors, will share in appreciation.

3. Toilet paper. That's right TP or baby wipes are a hot commodity at large festivals, especially toward the end. TP is an excellent trading tool, when you get in line to go to the port-a-potty it's an express pass to the front. Just break of some squares to the first person in line. You'll be like an angel dropping from above, they'll be more then happy to let you cut in. I've done this in the past at Ultra. One guy even offered me $5 for toilet paper, I felt bad so i just gave him some squares.

The ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL (UMF) has confirmed the final line-up for the 11th edition. The world's leading two-day electronic and alternative music experience--set for Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 during the Winter Music Conference in Miami--is excited to announce The Black Eyed Peas have been added to Friday's Main Stage With worldwide sales in excess of 26 million units and a total of 11 Grammy Award nominations with three wins, The Black Eyed Peas--will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo--are set to perform in support of their new album out June 9 titled The E.N.D.--their first original new album since 2005's Monkey Business which sold over four million copies in the U.S. and more than nine million copies worldwide.

Future of Music with Bodzin?

Stephan Bodzin will be demonstrating the JazzMutant Lemur touchpad at the Beatport Pool Party at the Remix Hotel, Sunday at 1pm. The Lemur is a multi touch controller for live performances. The user interface is customizable and offers a sleek design for a sythesizer, sequencer, and light controller all in one.

Just one of the many visual and touch screen virtual instruments, that have popped up in recent years. It seems like a close cousin to the Tenorion and Reactables. Wether or not this growing trend will catch on is anyone's guess. One thing is for sure, they do look like something from out of the Jetsons'.

WMC 2009 Travel Tips

• Carry cash for cab, but dont carry all your cash at the same time you be tempted to spend it all if your anything like me.
• Buy presale tickets, you can save big time. Clubs here are abusive at the door, some tickets can be up to double the price.
• If your planing on renting a car DON'T. If your staying in the South Beach area transportation is easy. In South Beach all the hotels and clubs are with in walking distance. Moving From downtown to the beach if fairly inexpensive, also. Especially if your sharing a cab its only a couple of bucks per person. Parking on south beach is a headache.
  
• If your traveling by yourself and you need a ride from the airport to South Beach DO NOT take a cab, take the Super Shuttle its half the price for the same service. Also if your staying at a higher end hotel check with the hotel to see if they offer free shuttle service to and from the airport. If your traveling in a group of 5 or more people ask for limo prices they might actually be better deal per person than a cab or a shuttle.
  
• This has happened to a bunch of people I know. YOU LOSE YOUR ID/WALLET! What do you do, don't freak out. If you don't have a spare ID and you lose your wallet file a police report & cancel all cards. There's a police station on Washington and 11th. The police basically give you a piece of paper saying you've lost your wallet and your over 21. You may have an issue getting into places it mostly depends on the bouncers mood. They may feel sorry for you and let you in, or your second best bet is try and bribe your way in. I try to always carry two picture IDs with me when I travel. I keep one in the the carry-on which travels with me, and one I keep on me. If I lose the my wallet, I still have one ID to prove I'm over age.

Crosstown Rebels presents Get Lost, the legendary afterhours now in its 4th year.

Electric Pickle, formerly Circa 28, this year will host DJs Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones, Butane and special guests. All three artists have artist albums due this year, providing an exclusive chance to air new their material. Lazarus releases his album on Get Physical in May, while Butane and Jamie Jones' longplayers are due on Crosstown Rebels this summer. Plenty to get excited about, each of these projects will mould the current face of techno.

In room 2 we are proud to host the launch party of a new label from LA, Culprit. Guests include the legendary Droog DJs, Lee Curtiss (a recent addition to the Rebel Agency), Clive Henry and more special guests to be announced.

Crosstown Rebels have climbed to the top of the techno tree in their five years of existence. Firmly dedicated to the support and development of the best cutting edge electronic dance music, Crosstown Rebels loves quality alternative sounds, adores a great party and thrives on creative, young people armed with something new to say.

Get Lost has become a successful compilation series featuring issues from Dinky, Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus and Matthew Styles, as well as a thriving series of events. Encompassing the weird and wonderful and always full of surprises, Get Lost brings divine offerings to the table.
